Clear Speech is a highly successful and innovative pronunciation text for intermediate to high-intermediate students of North American English. It focuses on those aspects of English pronunciation that contribute the most to intelligibility: rhythm, stress, and intonation, as well as on individual speech sounds that carry important grammatical meaning, such as the plural 's' for English nouns.

This new edition provides learners with visual representations of important pronunciation features, such as voicing and syllable length. It also includes a greater emphasis on listening recognition, more coverage of vowel sounds, and a clearer presentation of sentence focus. Like its lower level companion, Clear Speech from the Start, this new edition of Clear Speech utilizes a unique approach to teaching the patterns of sentence stress and intonation in English, in a series of tasks called The Music of English. The full audio program that accompanies this book is available on audio CD. The student's book contains its own audio CD, so students can practice many of the exercises on their own.
