The Foundation Reading Library is an exciting new series of graded readers written specially to meet the needs of younger learners beginning to read in English. The carefully crafted, age-appropriate stories are designed for middle school, high school, and private language school students.

• Graded at seven levels, with six readers per level, ranging from 75 to 350 headwords
  Adventure, drama, detective, and romance stories – all of which deal with issues and topics that teens want to read about
• Illustrated in full color which, combined with carefully controlled language, enables beginning learners to read successfully and confidently

It is Sarah's first day of work at The Lagoon Café. Sarah serves the customers with her co-worker Ji-Sung while Mrs. Hayes, the owner, goes out shopping. A man Sarah does not know comes into the café and takes food without paying. Sarah and Ji-Sung call the police. While they are telling the police what happened, Mrs. Hayes comes into the store followed by the man who "stole" the food. Mrs. Hayes identifies the man as her husband who also owns the café.
